A Wee Update

I’ve posted some more videos for your weekend viewing pleasure! I’d recommend scrolling back to the first one and then working your way back up. Most of them are from the Louvre or Versailles, but that concludes all (well, most…) of my Paris videos. I hope to get Amsterdam up sometime this weekend.

Jake and I are fully getting settled into our new lives in Glasgow. We’ve rented a lovely flat on the south side of the city, and both of us have found jobs with work agencies. I’m doing mostly admin/receptionist temp work–I’ll try to convince him to post his own update with what he’s been up to. Scotland is a beautiful country, and the people here are very warm and friendly. We’re both really enjoying our stay here.

An email will be going out soon to our family members with our contact information here. I’m sorry it’s been so long since my last update–unfortunately, our access to internet is severely limited. Because we only have a 3-month lease and we don’t have UK bank accounts fully set up yet, we’re having a hard time convincing internet providers to come out and set something up, and when we tried to set up mobile broadband it turned into a failure of epic proportions.

That’s all I have time for now–I’ve been at this cafe for 3 hours, and it’s time to go home and get some lunch! I’ll try to post a more detailed update and some more videos tomorrow.

Versailles, Part Six

It’s pretty easy to see how disappointed I am. Versailles was gorgeous, but it definitely didn’t live up to my high expectations. The crowds were just too much, and we didn’t get to see any of the gardens because of rain. It was just a bad day to go.

Versailles, Part Cinq

This was the bedroom of three queens of France, and multiple rulers were born on that bed.We weren’t enjoying the trip that much by this point, though… the crowds were absolutely insane, and we couldn’t get close enough to get a good view without being pushed on all sides.

Versailles, Part Trois

A video shot in the famed Hall of Mirrors. Absolutely stunning, but the crowds were stifling and took away from the experience. Lesson learned: go to Versailles on a sunny day in the off-season.
